The Halloween Tradition Continues: Boo At The Zoo Is Back!

The Halloween tradition continues: Boo at the Zoo is back! I remember visiting the Philadelphia Zoo in October as a kid. It was an awesome experience. Every year around this time, the zoo transformed into a spooky wonderland, decorated with ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, and cobwebs throughout. Kids were encouraged to wear Halloween costumes while visiting their favorite animals (He-man, Thundercats and Ghostbusters were all big back then). Zoo staff also participated in the event by dressing up and handing out candy. It was a lot of fun!

A Philly tradition that’s still going strong

Decades later, the Philadelphia Zoo is still combining two things every kid loves: animals and trick-or-treating!

Join us for three spooky weekends this October during our annual fall extravaganza! Come dressed in your favorite costume; enjoy seasonal décor, photo opportunities, and festive fall offerings; and have a spooktacular time! To minimize touchpoints, candy will be available at stations around the Zoo.

Now that my wife and I have a little one at home, we’re definitely going to par take in this year’s extravaganza. I want my daughter to have the same happy memories of the zoo as I have from when I was a kid. We’re going to dress her up and take an obnoxiously large number of photos. I’ll also follow-up with another blog post afterwards detailing our experience.
